Sold Out

The Brazil São João microharvest is completely sold out. Please click the "Buy" tab above to see our current coffee list.

This micro-harvest comes from the São João Estate, a small farm in the hilly highlands of Rio de Janeiro. Founded in 1853, the estate uses organic fertilizers and traditional methods to nurture its crop. This year's delicious harvest of Yellow Bourbon beans is small — only 10 jute bags — and available only at Gimme! Coffee. When brewed at home, the coffee is wonderfully plush and creamy, with flavors of peanut oil, chocolate and simple sugar.

Origin Facts

Sustainability

Fair Labor Practices São João's Estate provides its 24 employees and their families with housing, electricity, water, and other amenities, like eggs and milk produced on the farm. Employees are also offered job training, literacy education, and school supplies.
Habitat Preservation 617 acres — over half the farm — is preserved as forest, and replanted with native plant species at a rate of 2000 trees per year. Farmers use a natural mulching method: whenever any cutting or pruning occurs, the cut material is left in the field to decompose into a natural mulch layer.
Water Conservation All springs on the estate are protected by fencing and surrounded by appropriate native vegetation
