Burundi Kibungere Cup of Excellence

This award-winning coffee comes to us from the inaugural Burundi Cup of Excellence competition, where Gimme! founder Kevin Cuddeback was an observer. The Cup of Excellence Competition honors the top coffees of the harvest in countries all over the world. To win, each coffee must pass five rounds of judging; the winning farmers earn price premiums and well-deserved acclaim.

This coffee comes from Kibungere Coffee Washing Station, which is owned by by Sogestal Kirimiro. Kibungere mills coffee for smallholder coffee farmers from 4 different districts in Nyabihanga commune, and works directly with the farmers to improve training agronomic good practices, coffee productivity, and quality focus. All this effort enables farmers to get a better price for their coffee. This particular cup is outstandingly clean, with berry-like flavors and tropical fruit aroma.
