When Alfredo Correa inherited the San Rafael farm, it was almost more of a burden than a gift. It hadn't been properly maintained in years, and all the coffee trees were too old to produce fruit. Even worse, he didn't have the money to fix it up. So he banded together with three of his cousins, and they traveled all over Colombia to pick coffee for other farms. They saved their money carefully. At night, they'd compare notes to figure out what made the successful farms work. Eventually, they saved up enough to get their grandmother's farm running again, and even bought additional land nearby. Now they're producing 250 bags of coffee per year. This San Rafael micro-lot is just 10 bags of their very best beans, and it's thrillingly delicious. Juicy and sweet, it sings with toasted almond, tropical flowers, and lemon spice.
