Colleen Anunu, Gimme's Director of Coffee, traveled to Central America last spring to source coffees and forge new relationships with dedicated coffee producers there. We're pleased to release the second group of microlots she sourced there, including La Providencia Atitlán. Above, Colleen stands in the coffee fields with Juan Fransciso Pira, owner of La Providencia Atitlán.
Juan Francisco Pira has had his eye on La Providencia Atitlán for over seven years. It's a lush farm located on the shores of Lake Atitlán, and he knew it had the potential to produce some of the finest coffee in the region. Now that he's actually purchased the farm, he's begun renovating it to meet his exacting coffee cultivation standards. This lot comes from the first plot to be renovated; it's a delicately structured coffee, with sweet tropical fruits and white grape, and crystal clear transparency.
