Earlier this year, Gimme Director of Coffee Colleen Anunu traveled to Honduras to judge the 2012 Cup of Excellence Competition. During the first round of judging, this was her favorite, highest scoring coffee, with beautiful sweetness, complex berry and cherry flavors, and balance. Like many excellent coffees, El Sauce slipped through the cracks of the CoE competition, so Colleen traveled to the mill and purchased this beautiful lot directly from farmer Esteban Madrid and the award-winning Beneficio San Vicente mill.
This coffee represents a continuation of Gimme's relationship with Beneficio San Vicente, where we've consistently found coffees that are carefully selected, sorted, and processed for quality. It's also the first year of what we hope will be a long-term partnership with Esteban. His harvest this year is ultra-clean, with sweet fruit notes of cantaloupe and peaches, and a delicate herb & honey finish.
