Piccolo Mondo Fair Trade Organic Blend

Piccolo Mondo means "small world," and it's just the blend for thinking globally and acting locally. It's our organic espresso blend, profiled specifically for ristretto extraction, though it also performs incredibly well as a French press or sweet, mild pourover that's as smooth as can be. This blend is shade grown, Organic, and Fair Trade.

Blend Profile

This iteration of Piccolo Mondo features a 70/30 blend of Mexico Chiapas and Guatemala Hueuetenango. Mexico Chiapas, the base component, contributes a very creamy mouthfeel, and we roast it to highlight the body and bring out caramel and dark chocolate notes. The Guatemala Hueuetenango is a lively citric and slightly floral coffee. Weuse it to balance out the depth of the Mexican Chiapas, and add more light sweetness to the blend.

About Gimme Blends

Each of our blends starts with an idea. Sometimes we're inspired by a craft beer or fine wine; sometimes we want to showcase an outstanding bean or create our own version of a traditional blend. Our roaster takes this idea into the cupping room, where we spread out a palette of single-origin beans. The blend comes together like a puzzle, piece by piece. First comes the anchoring base note; next we choose the high note and finish. Finally we tune the proportions to bring the whole mix into balance, so that no one flavor dominates. The resulting blend is greater than the sum of its parts.
