Founders of an Innovative Trading Program Visit Gimme from Colombia
Gimme customers and staff were treated recently to a meet-and-greet with Alejandro Cadena and Giancarlo Ghiretti, founders of the Las Mingas Relationship Coffee Project, who work directly with the farmers that produce our beautiful Las Mingas beans. Our special guests from Bogotá lectured one night in Ithaca, and the very next night in New York City. That NYC lecture hadn't been scheduled until Jenni, our Manhattan manager, asked Giancarlo and Alejandro if they could do a repeat talk the next night before leaving the States. Very gracious of them to oblige.
We learned a ton from Alejandro (shown) and Giancarlo, both of whom are trained as economists. The lecture touched on agriculture, horticulture, economics, industry and politics. Great questions from the audience, which included scientists and sociologists from Ithaca College and Cornell University, all part of the Gimme family.
Thanks to everyone who came out and packed the place. The evening was really educational and a delight for consumers eager to understand the people who fill their daily cup.Special thanks to Giancarlo and Alejandro. Til we meet again!

How do you decaffinate your coffee? What does direct solvent process mean? Sounds like chemical residue is left in the beans. Doesn't sound good!

This was a fantastic presentation and a challenging Q&A session. Many thanks to Alejandro and Giancarlo for their time!
