Fresh from the Roaster
September's secret password is Amaro. However, we will also accept: "WOW! It's like blueberry donuts" and "Yum Yum Yum".
We had only released this coffee a month ago, and yet it has gained
considerable fanfare among baristas and home brewers alike. When Devorah,
our upstate Training Specialist, extracted the Amaro as espresso she
reported that it was, "thick and super sweet, almost too sweet! The lab smells like
we're cooking cobbler! Brown sugar and browning fruit!"
All this from a regular cup of coffee, you say? You've got to drink it to believe it.
It's a good thing that in our cafés for the next two months we will be featuring the Ethiopia Amaro so that you can melt your preoccupations away for a good 10 minutes and just revel in the abundance of this coffee. Also rotating in the featured cycle are the new arrivals of Costa Rica Las Lajas and Kenya Gatomboya (more to come on those two coffees later this month in our blog).
Honduras Linda Vista
Our Honduras Linda Vista Cup of Excellence winner is ready for the Probat! This coffee survived political and environmental instability to make its way to the final international jury selection of the 2009 Honduras Cup of Excellence program and into the Krum's Corners roastery. I don't know if you've been keeping up with the news or remember the 7.1 earthquake that hit off of the Atlantic coasts of Honduras and Guatemala in May, but believe it when I say factors like this don't always lead to the arrival of a small vacuum sealed, high quality coffee lot.
Over 300 farmers chose to participate and submit samples to this year's Cup of Excellence auction. What we love most about this coffee is its solid structure, honey sweetness and floral finish. The lavender vapors in the finish are really something special.
Changes to the Roast Roster
- We've finished our Las Mingas Nariño lot, but still have our Las Mingas Organic lot from Cauca.
- We are welcoming the Honduras Linda Vista to our offering sheet.
