Nicaragua Linda Vista Draws Baristas to Upstate Training Lab
All 30 baristas from Gimme's four upstate New York retail stores hit the Upstate Training Lab this past Tuesday and Thursday for a tasting of our Nicaragua Linda Vista Cup of Excellence coffee. They learned about the Linda Vista farm, French Pressed the coffee and talked at length about the Cup of Excellence auction.
Our twice-a-week barista jams usually have one representative from each store. This week I was able to pack in over a dozen on both Tuesday and Thursday. Seasoned baristas met many new baristas from different stores, and the noise level rose as we passed around that quintissentially barista trait: friendly sarcasm. When it was time to work, though, the room immediately fell quiet. Attention was pulled in and drawn to the coffee. Notes were taken and questions raised. These kids make me happy to be a trainer.
