Ethiopia Organic Beans Boast Lemon and Berry Pizzazz
Published Jul 1, 2008
Our newest organic coffee is garden-farmed in the rich volcanic soil of the Sidamo Highlands, Ethiopia.
Single-Origin Sidamo Organic
Sidamo Organic has all the sweetness and sparkling flavor that distinguishes Ethiopian coffee. With its lemon aroma and very berry taste, this coffee is complex and refreshing — perfect for brewing at home. You can buy bags online and have them shipped right to you. As always, we recommend grinding fresh and brewing in a French Press to fully enjoy this coffee's bright flavor palette.
Garden Coffee
Coffee was first cultivated in Ethiopia, and it's still the nation's biggest crop. In the Sidamo region, families grow coffee in their gardens, with other crops planted between the rows. These beans are:
- Completely organic: farmers use organic fertilizers and traditional garden farming methods.
- High quality: beans are picked by hand, processed naturally, and fully sorted.
- Local and global: unlike other coffee-producing regions where coffee is just a cash crop for export, about half of Ethiopian coffee is consumed locally.
At Shoye Cooperative
Our newest Ethiopia comes from the Organic-certified Shoye Cooperative. Situated between Lake Abaya and the savannah, the volcanic mountainsides are ideal for growing flavorful beans.
