Brew It At Home
Brazil Daterra Estate Bruzzi is a nutty, chocolatey cup, perfect for brewing at home. You can buy bags online and have them shipped right to you. As always, we recommend grinding fresh and brewing in a French Press to fully enjoy the deep, creamy body and bittersweet chocolate aftertaste.
Utz Links Environment, Community, Quality
Daterra's coffees and the estate itself are both Utz Certified. Utz is a coffee certification with a holistic approach to sustainability, training farmers in environmental care, fair labor practices, and agronomy. In return for meeting strict standards in all these areas, Utz Certified farmers earn a premium price for their coffees. Among the requirements:
- Shade Grown: preserves bird habitats and prevents erosion.
- Water Conservation: farms recycle water into the ecosystem.
- Schools, Healthcare, Housing: workers are fairly treated.
- Record-Keeping: farmers record environmental factors.
- Complete Traceability: beans are tracked from farm to roaster.
At Daterra Estate, these responsible growing standards have improved the lives of the farmers and their community.
Vacuum-Packing at Origin Seals in Flavor
Through agronomic research and careful tracking, Daterra Estate has made a name for itself as a worldwide leader in coffee quality. One of their newest innovations is vacuum-packing at origin. Like most farms, Daterra used to ship coffee in loose-mesh jute bags, which allowed water to evaporate from the beans in transit. As a side effect,
... certain small, charged molecules in the coffee bean will remain bound to the water that is leaving. Some of these departing molecules will be volatile aroma and flavor components.

To keep those flavor and aroma molecules where they belong, Daterra Estate decided to vacuum-pack the beans shortly after harvest. Now they can be sure that the rich flavor of their coffee makes it all the way to your cup.
