Introducing: Gimme Coffee training, NYC style!

That's right folks! After a few month hiatus, NYC Gimme! Coffee locations are excited to welcome back our barista training program!

"Full time?" you say, "Are there really that many new employees to train all of the time?!"

Great question! But you see, this here training program isn't just for baristas new to the Gimme! family,

But for ALL of our darling baristas! Old-schoolers and new-kids-on-the-block alike! (You've got to admit, they are preeettty darling, right?!)

Where being cute and incredibly charming may come naturally to our staff at Gimme!, earning that title of "barista", comes only from intensive training, dedication, study, and endless hours of practice!

And let's not forget, a strong love for the beans!

Our mantra here at Gimme! Coffee is "Espresso driven and quality obsessed", and boy! Do we mean it! (This is where my job comes into play!) Check out how we're backin' that mantra up, busy-NY-city style in our Training Lab on Mott street:

Each month I run four Labs (best described as equal parts: "coffee class", study-group, and sports practice!). Labs are separated into four weeks, each with a specific focus.

Meeting in small groups throughout the week, all of our baristas attend the first three Labs each month, and the fourth being left optional for those who just can't get enough!

Focus include, but are certainly not limited to:

Espresso! Theory, chemistry, testing the rules? You name it!

Milk! Always in pursuit of that perfect temperature, texture, and of course, latte art!

Cupping! We cup coffee at least once every month, often times more! Cupping is very useful for learning to talk about and really know a coffee, which is the goal for us here at Gimme! Coffee!

Pretty cool program, right? Educated baristas and delicious cups of coffee? Sounds good to me! Stay tuned for more sneak peaks of what we're up to in the Lab!
