Meet Your Barista: Allen Yelent, San Fernando Valley's Finest

Allen was the first person hired at our NoLita location. This means he's been at Mott St. since the beginning. Those of you that tune in regularly know exactly how long that is.

The first time I met Allen may have been at Gimme on Mott Street. Or maybe it was on the 4th of July a top a since burned down building. I'm not sure.

Working at both the Gimme Manhattan and Brooklyn locations Allen's got a pretty good handle on things.

Allen has also been known to moonlight at Boneshakers. They've got a pretty cool thing going on over there too.

Allen's drink of choice? A macchiato, if we're talking making them. If we're talking drinking them, well then he'd have an espresso please.

Here's Allen showing love for his roots. He came to us from San Francisco where his appetite for coffee developed with a ritual cup of joe.

Barista or bike mechanic? You decide. Allen owns 4 bicycles. I'm curious how he fits them all in a NYC sized apartment. Looks like the one in this picture folds in half which probably helps.

Allen is an amazing person and a rock star barista. We feel fortunate and proud to have him as part of our team.
