Meet Your Barista: Ashley Cake

Ashley Cake has been working for Gimme! Coffee for more than 4 years part time. She first started working the Gimme trailer at Cornell in January 2005.

Born and bred in Ithaca, Ashley looks forward to the summer when she can get her head out of the books and get outdoors with Gimme at the Ithaca Farmer’s Market, where her love of sunshine, coffee and good people combines in the hard but satisfying work of making perfect espresso in unpredictable conditions.

Getting buff and muddy schlepping cambros and pulling espresso carts dovetails with Ashley’s undying love for American muscle (cars that is), first and foremost her ‘06 Charger, which makes a joyride out of an otherwise unassuming stretch of route 81. Someday Ashley aspires to know something about engines, but for now it’s a matter of mastering the valves and hoses of the “mobile mirage” and dishing out rosettas to make those indoor baristas jealous.

Ashley's favorite drink is a quad soy latte and favorite coffee is Hartmann Honey. Her hobbies are, first and most importantly, her pug Uroy, indoor gardening, writing and reading.

We're currently trying to soak up as much of Ashley and Uroy as possible, before she leaves us in the fall to pursue a PhD at Syracuse University. We'll keep our fingers crossed that next summer she comes back, the farmer's market team wouldn't be the same without her.
