State Street Renovation: Synesso on Bar

By Devorah Freudiger | Sep 11, 2009

For months now this Synesso has been installed in the lab at the back of State Street Gimme, getting moderate use from the trainers and sitting idle most of the time.

Photos by Devorah Freudiger, Gimme! Coffee.

Suddenly in a flurry of wrenches, and in the name of progress, that all changed.

Gimme's amazing machine technicians Thom and Thomas unhooked, unplugged, and unplumbed this machine to whisk it away to a new life.

This is a beautiful piece of equipment that gives more control to the barista manning it. Pre-infusion time is manual and each group head has it's own boiler with adjustable temperature. Which means there is more to play with in the quest for perfect espresso.

In my customary selfless manor I graciously let them take MY machine for the good of the team.

There they go, sniff, Bon Voyage!

Faster than I could say "cappuccino" a new machine was installed in the lab...

...and the Synesso took it's rightful place on the new bar!

OUCH! Moving all that metal is a dangerous job. Sorry Thom, hope you heal quickly!

Here it is all hooked up and ready to go. It looks very nice with all the new tile and the marble counter top.

What a nice fit! A great machine for great baristas in a great new store!
