On November 6, 2007, the Gimme! family suffered a terrible loss when Kim Horton, our beloved friend and barista, died in a car accident. Kim was 22.
Remembering Kim
Family, friends, coworkers, and customers gathered for a memorial at our State Street espresso bar, where Kim had worked and touched the lives of so many. She was remembered with love. Many folks mentioned her love of animals and the outdoors, and her fierce desire to change the world for the better.
We're thankful for the support we received from business partners and community members. We're also proud of Gimme! staff for pulling together and helping each other.
Heifer International Foundation
In Kim's honor, Gimme! made a donation to the Heifer International Foundation, whose mission is to end world hunger and care for the earth.
Heifer International works to build sustainable communities through a holistic approach that involves numerous global initiatives. Their signature program provides livestock, training, and related services to small-scale farmers worldwide. The simple idea of giving families a source of food rather than short-term relief has contined for over 60 years. Since 1944, Heifer International has helped 8.5 million people in more than 125 countries.
How You Can Help
You can celebrate Kim's life by donating a gift for a family in need. Gimme! Coffee has set up a registry at Heifer International in Kim's honor. This registry is dedicated to Kim's passion for helping people, loving animals, and living each day to the fullest. By making a donation a heifer, a flock of ducks, a stand of trees you will help children and families around the world become self-reliant. This gift of hope is a wonderful way to honor Kim's legacy of living.
