The Specialty Coffee Association of America presents the 2007 Northeast Regional Barista Competition (NERBC), hosted by Gimme! Coffee. Among friends we're calling it the first annual “Tampionship.”
Calling All Baristas
Compete in the 2007 Northeast Regional Barista Competition and you could win an all-expenses paid trip to the National Barista Championship in Long Beach, California.
- Competitors prepare 4 espressos, 4 cappuccinos, and 4 specialty drinks in 15 minutes
- Judges evaluate taste, presentation, espresso technique, and coffee knowledge to pick a winner
- The NERBC is open to all baristas from NY, CT, RI, MA, ME, VT, or NH
- Spaces are limited! Competitors are admitted on a first come, first serve basis
- Competitor info and registration (SCAA site)
How to Get Involved
So you're not ready to compete this year? You can still get involved and get a headstart on next year's competition. Participate by:
- Training as a competition judge
- Volunteering to help run the competition
- Or, just come to enjoy the free show
- More info (SCAA site)
Raising the Bar
At Gimme! Coffee, we know that barista craft makes good coffee possible. We're hosting the NERBC because it's a great way to:
- Recognize excellent baristas for their passion and dedication
- Educate baristas, roasters, and consumers about specialty coffee
- Provide career opportunities and professional development for talented baristas
- Improve the quality of coffee served throughout the Northeast and the US
