How To Preserve Freshness at Home
To keep the flavor locked into your beans, you should:
- Only buy a week's worth of coffee at a time.
- Use all beans within 14 days.
- Store beans in an airtight container like a Bell jar.
- Grind beans right before you brew.
You can freeze beans if you won't use them within 10 days. Remember:
- Freeze them in an airtight container so they don't pick up off-flavors.
- Take out only the amount you need for the next day or two. Thaw them in an airtight container before you grind.
- Freezing and re-thawing damages the beans and compromises the flavor.
